OVERVIEW


Click to view the Draft Agenda. The STD Adolescent Course is held in midtown Manhattan, New York City.

This course is designed for medical providers who provide direct clinical care to adolescent patients
. Topics will include the prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of STDs in the outpatient setting. Providers will also learn strategies to enhance effective communication with adolescents; risk assessment screening in clinical practice settings; and health education and prevention strategies. Objectives include: 

1. Describe the local epidemiology of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among the adolescent population.
2. Describe the management, including the diagnosis and treatment, of STDs among adolescent patients.
3. Describe the STD screening recommendations for adolescent patients.
4. Discuss the components of STD risk assessment and risk reduction counseling strategies.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE


Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses

**Priority is given to medical providers who have NOT previously attended an NYC PTC STD Intensive Course. Non-clinical professionals and those who attended in the past will be placed on the waitlist. **
