Target Audience:  Physicians, midlevel practitioners (PA, NP), nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Course Description:   This course, an intensive overview of STIs, includes 14 hours of lecture over two days. Topics will include updated treatment and management information as well as case based discussions. 

Course Objectives:   At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

* Describe clinical features of reportable STIs: syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia

* Recognize clinical presentations of common viral STIs: herpes, HPV, HSV

* Understand current STI epidemiological patterns

* Demonstrate improved skills in completing a trauma informed and gender affirming STI history and physical exam

* Discuss clinical characteristics of common vaginal infections:             

     trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis

* Integrate HIV risk assessment into patient care

* Describe current approaches to STI/HIV prevention including pre-exposure prophylaxis and expedited partner therapy

* Discuss evidence-based patient management strategies following CDC’s STI Treatment Guidelines
