Maternal and Congenital Syphilis Update 

for the California Prenatal Care Provider

Syphilis among women and congenital syphilis are on the rise in California. Congenital syphilis is preventable with prompt detection and treatment during syphilis. The California Department of Public Health and the California Prevention Training Center invite prenatal care providers to participate in this webinar to enhance their knowledge in management of maternal and congenital syphilis for pregnant patients. 

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the current epidemiology of syphilis among women and of congenital syphilis in California
  • Apply syphilis screening recommendations for pregnant patients
  • Describe clinical manifestations, diagnostic approach, and management of syphilis among pregnant patients
  • Identify key resources for questions about the management of syphilis among pregnant patients
