The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and New York City STD Prevention Training Center are offering a free, one-hour webinar on congenital syphilis in NYC to provide information on the recent changes to the NYC Health Code requiring third trimester screening. Each webinar will: provide background information on syphilis in pregnancy and the changing epidemiology of congenital syphilis in New York City, and review recent changes to the New York City Health Code requiring third trimester syphilis screening among pregnant persons between 28-32 weeks gestation. There will also be an opportunity to address providers’ questions.

Target Audience

Clinical providers in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Adolescent Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Susan Blank is a medical epidemiologist with the Division of STD Prevention at the US Centers for Disease Control, and, since 1992, has been assigned to the Bureau of Sexually Transmitted Infections (BSTI) within the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). Dr. Blank has served as Assistant Commissioner for DOHMH BSTI since 2000.
