2022 NC Annual STI Update

Program Overview and Objectives: 

The 2022 Update will provide up-to-date information on prevention, management and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This activity will address best practices related to prevention strategies for STIs including HIV, hepatitis and vaginitis. Approaches to addressing the syndemic of substance abuse and STIs will also be reviewed. The format will include case studies of common disease states that may complicate treatment, explore emerging infections and discuss the future of testing technique implementation.

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
• Review updated information on the prevention, management and treatment of STIs.
•Examine common disease states that may complicate treatment.
•Discuss PrEP updates and review implementation strategies for high-risk patients in NC.
• Recognize the relationship between burnout and well-being.
• Identify syndemic patterns for risk of STIs and their associations with substance use.
•Describe the characteristics of the most common types of viral hepatitis.
•Explain the epidemiology, risk factors and management of vaginitis.

Who Should Participate:

This knowledge-based activity is targeted to physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, public health workers and other health care providers.

We recognize that much of this information is redundant. However, both registrations are required by our funder, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in order to offer this as a free activity for participants.
