Class Information
Clinicians who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections may lack experience and skills in diagnosing and treating STIs.
In their current practice, they may lack the appropriate skills for performing a proper male/female genital exam. Clinicians may have
a lack of knowledge of STI signs and symptoms and may lack knowledge on appropriate tests to make a proper diagnosis, including
use of microscopy. They may also lack knowledge in appropriate treatment of STIs in accordance with current CDC STI Treatment
Guidelines. They may lack knowledge in frequently changing diagnosis and treatment of monkeypox. Improvements in these practice
gaps can be achievable through participants’ experience in the STI Clinical Intensive Course.
