Course Description:
This event will highlight key updates and important concepts in STI management and STI/HIV prevention. Featured speakers will include faculty from the California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC) at UC San Francisco (UCSF), the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
Topics:
- STI trends (national and California)
- Biomedical STI/HIV prevention
- Updates in STI management with a focus on syphilis, mycoplasma genitalium and HPV
Learning Objectives:
- Describe at least one treatment approach to Mgen treatment failure
- Understand the population-based screening recommendations for HPV-related diseases including cervical and anal cancer
- Summarize major epidemiologic trends in bacterial STIs with a focus on California data
- Answer frequently asked questions regarding implementation of biomedical approaches to HIV
- STI prevention (e.g., doxycycline post exposure prophylaxis and injectable HIV PrEP)
- Interpret challenging syphilis serologic results using a case based approach
