St. Louis PTC - Clinical eLearning Collaborative 2023

This course will take place on January 22nd from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

 

Target Audience: Physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Course Description: The purpose of this community is to delve into the clinical aspects of STI prevention, diagnosis, and management and more fully understand the state-of-the-art techniques in managing our patients. If you are not a clinician, please share this invitation with the clinicians in your organization who focus on STIs. Our current list of topics include: the updated 2021 CDC STI Treatment Guidelines, individual disease entities such as Gonorrhea/Chlamydia and Syphilis, management of sexual assault and Pre- and Post - Exposure Prophylaxis, Expedited Partner Therapy, and Trauma Informed Care. An important part of any clinical learning is review of cases so our discussions will be largely case-based. The intent is to create a collaborative community- in other words, we want YOU to bring your cases and contribute topics. The sessions will be organized and moderated by the St. Louis STI/HIV PTC but the floor will be open for discussion and participation. You will be interacting with other clinical colleagues (hysicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)MD, DO, PA, NP, RN) from other health department clinics. We may even have a little friendly competition.

This event will highlight key updates and important concepts in STI management and STI/HIV prevention. Featured speakers will include faculty from the California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC) at UC San Francisco (UCSF), the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

  • STI trends (national and California)
  • Biomedical STI/HIV prevention
  • Updates in STI management with a focus on syphilis, mycoplasma genitalium and HPV

  • Describe at least one treatment approach to Mgen treatment failure
  • Understand the population-based screening recommendations for HPV-related diseases including cervical and anal cancer
  • Summarize major epidemiologic trends in bacterial STIs with a focus on California data
  • Answer frequently asked questions regarding implementation of biomedical approaches to HIV
  • STI prevention (e.g., doxycycline post exposure prophylaxis and injectable HIV PrEP)

National NNPTC eLearning Community

Please join us for the first national NNPTC ESSHCI & SHIPS eLearning Community. We will hear from two clinics that have successfully implemented mobile health models around HIV/STI testing and care.

Following a short presentation on each mobile unit, an open floor format for peer-to-peer learning and collaboration will take place.
