Course Description

Sexuality is a normal part of healthy adolescent development, yet milestones of teens’ sexual development vary widely in terms of timing, cultural acceptance and how supported they are, and associated risks for adverse health outcomes. 

Dr. Claudia Borzutzky, an adolescent medicine specialist, will present an overview of:

  • the importance of confidential care for teens, both in primary care and sexual health settings
  • supporting adolescent sexual wellbeing
  • trends in use of contraception and condoms, teen pregnancy, and STIs among teens
  • the intersection of mental health, gender diversity, and the COVID epidemic with adolescent sexual health

 

 

Learning Objectives

  • Integrate understanding of adolescent consent and confidentiality laws in California in order to optimize your practice and lower barriers to care
  • Explain the difference between risk reduction and the promotion of well-being, in the context of adolescent sexual health
  • Describe teen-centered approaches to promotion of sexual well-being, and reducing rates of STIs and undesired pregnancy

Ratelle PTC - Advanced STI Clinical Intensive for Fellows

This training is for Infectious Disease fellows and fellows whose practices include prevention and treatment of STDs. The course features 16 hours of didactic lectures and case discussions as well as an optional 4 hours of hands-on laboratory workshop (wet mount) and an optional 4 hours of clinical shadowing opportunity at Massachusetts General Hospital Sexual Health Clinic in Boston.

There is no CME/CEU credit offered with this course.

St. Louis PTC - Clinical eLearning Collaborative 2023

This course will take place on December 18th from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

 

Target Audience: Physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Course Description: The purpose of this community is to delve into the clinical aspects of STI prevention, diagnosis, and management and more fully understand the state-of-the-art techniques in managing our patients. If you are not a clinician, please share this invitation with the clinicians in your organization who focus on STIs. Our current list of topics include: the updated 2021 CDC STI Treatment Guidelines, individual disease entities such as Gonorrhea/Chlamydia and Syphilis, management of sexual assault and Pre- and Post - Exposure Prophylaxis, Expedited Partner Therapy, and Trauma Informed Care. An important part of any clinical learning is review of cases so our discussions will be largely case-based. The intent is to create a collaborative community- in other words, we want YOU to bring your cases and contribute topics. The sessions will be organized and moderated by the St. Louis STI/HIV PTC but the floor will be open for discussion and participation. You will be interacting with other clinical colleagues (hysicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)MD, DO, PA, NP, RN) from other health department clinics. We may even have a little friendly competition.

The Clinical eLearning Community will be held virtually on Zoom.
